Ep #209: How to Pick a Coach

Listen to this episode here:
Following up on last week’s discussion about when it’s time to hire a coach, Ginny and Cassie are talking about how to choose the right coach in this episode. The first step, which both of our hosts agree with, is determining what you want to get from a coaching experience.
Being clear about what you want from a coach will help you receive a clear answer back. Ginny shares an example of what it’s like to be clear from when she was working with a book coach a few years back. Cassie says that she asks her clients upfront what they want out of coaching, and if they can’t answer, it makes them very difficult to coach.
The coach you hire should live the way you want to live. This is not the same as hiring someone who has what you want to have; there are many different paths that the coach could have went on to get them where they are. Cassie says that the only thing a coach can teach you is the way that they live. The other things are just mechanisms and, alone, they might not get you to your desired lifestyle.
It’s okay to be patient and wait for inspiration when searching for a coach. Ginny says that once we are more connected with our truth, we will be guided towards the best coach for us. There needs to be a balance between analyzation and intuition.
Sometimes, we’re not even looking for a coach, but we come across someone and connect so well. Ginny explains that it’s totally okay to trust this feeling, because the coach will later help you become clearer about what you want.
